Enlarged Details

Frequently, my painting takes me on a different journey towards abstraction, with colourful thoughts in mind. I allow strong hues and tones to speak, and I follow their path as I work, often starting a series that uses colour in a bold, different manner to create abstraction pleasing to my eye. Often, I start by referring to my landscape drawings, particularly those of Australia, where the light and glorious colours are so vibrant. It is liberating to work this way, with a freedom not often found. Mixed media allows so much to happen within a painting - collage, acrylic, oil pastel, and charcoal on handmade paper or canvas board. Working in a series suits me; I stop, reflect, and decide when a piece is finished
