My sketchbooks are my constant companions. Each page is filled with observations and impressions, allowing me to document experiences in a personal way. I explore new places, each destination offers a fresh perspective that enriches my artistic vision, especially when travelling. The addition of notes and colour references enables me to recall so much of the time spent drawing -the sounds, passing conversations, and even smells remind me of the place. The drawings not only inspire future paintings but also help me connect with different cultures and landscapes. My sketchbooks are a treasure trove of inspiration I can draw upon when I return to my studio. Frequently, before working, I allow weeks or even months to pass. This space of time is useful, as memory plays a significant role; I work my ideas in relation to the drawings, almost dismissing reality to lure abstract thoughts.
